I am going to Russel Pond in NH, it's a 4o acre lake hidden in the mountains. The Fish and game website states that the only fish that are in there are Brook Trout. Last time I went I didn't have much success.

I am not a flyfishing fan or anything, I prefer having a bobby and throwing it in. I can also do angling.

What do I need? That size of hook? Will trout worms work good?

Im not sure about trout worms but I prefer salmon eggs I once caught over 30 brook trout with them. You can get them at a bait shop near thee lake. Also corn and power bait work very well. As for hook size a 6 works well. Hope I helped!!

I am only 34 years old, so I didn't read Richard Brautigan during his hey-day. I found that book 11 years ago, and have since read the rest of his works that I can find. Reading those makes me think about my own life, so I like it.

Good stuff. My favorite Brautigan book was "The Hawkline Monster."

Velveeta' be the best. Haven't used it in a long time but, as Triple*B mentioned formin' it into balls is the way ta' go. Again haven't used it in awhile, however think that one can shape it into the ball form by placin' a small portion in the palm of your hands and with applying pressure move your hands in a circular motion (know this can be done with Power Bait so don't see any reason it would not hold true with Velveeta). Place some Split Shot about 18-20 inches above your hook (sizes 8, 10 or single egg hooks will do the trick). What I use ta' do first is thread a small cocktail Marshmelow (tiny ones) on hook up to eye (Vellveeta don't float but the Marshmellow does) then simply push hook inta' cheese makin' sure hook is completely concealed and there ya' have it. Might add that Marshmellow with the cheese be an extra treat for them. Hope this helps ya' out … < ' (( ( > <

there is no specific best length, otherwise they would sell only one size. whatever you are most comfortable with. are you looking for a fly rod? spinning rod? trolling rod? all these are going to come in different lengths. but more than likely, a spinning rod of about 6' would work fine. the others… well…you need to go to a good tackle shop and handle them.
